Joeri Kalkhoven (1993) is very diverse dutch drummer and percussionist. He controls many music styles and is specialized playing both live and studio.
Music has always played a major role in my life. I was raised in a musical family. At the age of six, I got my first percussion classes. When joining Harmonie L’Union, my love for music grew even more. There I discovered what it is like to play in orchestras. I successfully participated in various soloist competitions as well.
At fifteen years old, I decided to specialise myself in playing drums (my great passion). From that moment onwards, I have developed myself in that field. I studied jazz drums at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Marcel Serierse and Haye Jellema.
Because of my education and my experiences with playing in various orchestras and ensembles, I have developed a broad interest in various music genres. For instance, during the past few years, I have played in (symphony) orchestra’s, pop bands, jazz combo’s, funk bands and big bands.
Since 2016, I have been endorser of Yamaha Drums and Protection Racket Cases. I constantly seek to develop myself. My goal is to become a multifaceted session drummer, who is able to adapt smoothly to all settings and/or music genres, both live and in studio.
